Lighting Artist

CMD:Studio is looking to add another exceptional person to our team. If you want to be part of a creative team that values your opinion, insight and expertise, then this is the perfect role for you. We are looking for a Lighting Artist with an eye for atmospheric light composition and the skills for high-quality implementation and performance.
This role is freelance, full-time, and 100% remote, but you need to be in or near the UK (GMT) time zone. We are looking for minimum mid-level (3+ years) experience and the initial contract is for 1 month. The base rate for this position is ~£700 weekly, but this can be further negotiated based on your experience.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with our Art and Creative Leads on developing the lighting for the game’s environment and objects
Keep the artistic style consistent with the defined visual style for the game by following creative and technical briefs
Maintain a balance between visual quality and performance requirements for a smooth playing experience
Troubleshoot technical issues associated with lighting, performance, tools, and pipelines
Essential
Must have shipped a title, whether it's indie or AAA
Understanding of storytelling and how light affects the game flow and level design
Good knowledge of colour theory, composition, lighting, shading, and physically based rendering
Working knowledge of optimisation processes for great performance and quality
Experience with lighting setup in Unreal 4
Great self-organisation and communication skills
Desirable
Self-drive to complete assignments in a timely manner while maintaining a high level of quality
Familiarity with Agile development processes
Interest in horror games
An understanding of the game development process within the scope of an indie studio
